Sustainability Report 2018
Food and feed continued Proactive residue monitoring During 2018 Glencore Agriculture invested in the development of a database of maximum residue limits to support its proactive risk-basedmonitoring approach to food safety and quality. The database gives insight into differences in residue limit requirements between the export and import country. Pesticide and residue limits are under constant review by authorities and having a single source for up-to-date data is increasingly important whenmoving commodities all over the world. With the help of the database, Glencore Agriculture can identify where residue limits are stricter in the importing country compared to the exporting country. This allows for country-specific screening and testing to be done at the point of export to ensure products will meet the import requirements. The next phase of the proactive risk-based monitoring approach is to understand which pesticides and chemicals are used by producers and add this information to the matrix. Meeting the highest standards We employ best practice in quality control, and food and feed safety management in all our operations and activities. These include: • Good Manufacturing Practice and B3 QC Standards for feed materials • International Sustainability & Carbon Certification • International Featured Standards • ISO 22000 Food Safety Management • ISO 9001 Quality Management System. 20 Glencore Agriculture Sustainability Report 2018
