Sustainability Report 2018

Supporting young people In Argentina we have been working on a number of projects to improve facilities available to local children in communities where we operate. With the support of local schools and communities, we have developed an initiative to help schools improve their facilities, including infrastructure and the condition of buildings, and promote the creation and use of vegetable gardens, greenhouses and school libraries. Local schools were invited to enter a competition submitting project ideas that would improve their school, with 25 submitting projects. These ranged frompurchasing playground equipment, constructing a greenhouse, creating a vegetable garden and providing gardening tools and equipment, purchasing furniture to improve classrooms, installing internet antennas, and purchasing books to develop libraries. We felt all the submissions would create benefits for young people and decided to fund all 25 projects. Our policies and operational processes embed our commitment to respect human rights. We do not tolerate any form of workplace discrimination, harassment or physical assault, or any form of child, forced or compulsory labour. We seek to reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate in our workforce. 15 Glencore Agriculture Sustainability Report 2018
